Little Signs of Spring

Today there was a little bit of Spring in the air. The Carrion Crows and Jackdaws were looking for suitable nest sites and it was rather comical watching them perch on chimney tops and peer down them as if they were prospective tenants.

I have also notice Wood pigeons pairing up and again looking for suitable sites although they do nest all year.

Big Winter Birdwatch

My friend Pat came up from London to join me for a day out Birding in Lowestoft. we first went to Oulton Broad to see the long staying Great Northern Diver of which we had good views. We then walked onto Lake Lothing to see the second long staying Great Northern Diver and also saw a Kingfisher.
Ness Point Lowestoft produced negative Med Gull, Rock Pipit, Black Redstart and Purple Sandpipers.
We ended up at Sotterley where we saw three Hawfinches, several Nuthatches and Tree creepers.
Our final sto p was the Raptor roost where we saw five female Marsh Harriers.
